It has been a while!

First of all I want to apologize to those of you who followed the blog or recently sent emails. I have been incredibly busy and I am so sorry for not responding to you or getting your scarves out to you right away.
As the summer approaches, I am going to initiate a new effort to collect scarves, so please be thinking about putting together a scarf drive. Cotton scarves are GREAT for the summer time- but you know what's even better? You can get them at your local retailer (Target or Wal-mart) for under $2 a piece!
I am hoping to work with an out of state hospital soon and would love to get some more donations. If you have any questions, please email me!
Come June, I will have The Jessica Project in full force, so be ready. :)

Thanks!

Silk! Silk! Silk! (Or at least a silk imposter!)

Hi everyone!

I am currently in need of SILK or silk-type scarves!
I have received so many wonderful cotton scarves, which I am very, very thankful for. But what I really need now are silk ones!
I like to give each recipient a silk scarf and a cotton one. I'm running out of the silk ones. Help!? Please?
If you're interested in donating, I will of course take any donation. But silk is what I'm currently looking for!
Please remember, I need donations that will fit a cancer patients head. It needs to be large enough to comfortably fit around a head. Like this:

Thanks so much!

I am looking for centers who could benefit from scarves!

Hello everyone!

I hope you all are doing fantastic. :)
I am currently looking for centers/Dr's offices who could benefit from scarf donations.
I would like to partner with a local oncologists office to give the scarves to their new patients. If anyone knows of a location or a contact that I could call, please let me know. I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks,

Brittney

THANK YOU to Laurie Metzger and the wonderful folks at Stellar!

I picked up nearly 60 scarves from their office this morning. The boxes Laurie had put together to collect the scarves were amazing in and of themselves! Thank you so much for your help with the October scarf drive! You all are wonderful!

October has been an amazing month!

October has been awesome for us! So many people have reached out and donated scarves.
So... I will be making trips to local hospitals and hospices this week. I am really looking forward to handing them all the wonderful scarf donations!
Since I've received so many, I would also like to ask that if you are reading this and know someone who could benefit from some new, beautiful scarves due to hair loss from chemo, please let me know!! I am more than glad to send them out or hand deliver them. They do not have to be local, just in need of a scarf or two.
I would also like to ask for a different type of donation. If anyone works for a company or knows of a company that makes boxes (small gift boxes) I could really use them. I am currently purchasing boxes and to have some donated would be awesome. Also ribbon- if anyone has spare ribbon or items to really jazz up the boxes I put the scarves in, I will gladly accept those donations.

Thanks so much everyone! I am so grateful for all the wonderful contributions. It means so much!

A letter from Community Hospice

One of our recipients of the scarves is Community Hospice of Jacksonville. They are a wonderful facilty that takes care of terminally ill patients.
Community Hospice recently sent The Jessica Project a letter.

" Please accept our sincere thanks for your gift of scarves through The Jessica Project for the patients of Community Hospice. We appreciate your kindness.
Community supported and community focused, Community Hopsice provides the very best care customized to the needs of each patient and family.
Though people turn to us when they are facing death, CH is about life, and celebrating life until it ends. Your support makes it possible to reach out to and embrace those in our care. We appreciate so much that you are a part of this important mission and thank you for you your support again. "

Please understand- that this is not my contribution. This is the contribution of everyone who has donated to The Jessica Project. Please continue to help me make the lives of those with cancer and similar illnesses a little brighter through the donation of head scarves.

Thank you so much!

Brittney

A special thank you to Mrs. C. Windham

Thank you so much! When I received your packaged yesterday, it brought me to tears. The way that you so cheerfully donated the scarves just melted my heart. I am so excited to divvy them out this week.
Oh and Happy Birthday!
Thank you!

October is one day away! That means breast cancer awareness month!

Please gather all the scarves you can. Remember, we are currently only accepting new scarves.
With breast cancer awareness month just one day away, I really would like to gather more scarves than normal. Please, the next time you are at Wal-Mart or Target or Stein mart or Bealls, just make a quick trip to the scarf section and pick up one or two. Every scarf is given to a cancer patient in need of one.

Thanks so much!!!

What is "The Jessica Project"?

Hello and welcome to my blog. The Jessica Project is a program created to accept donations of scarves for cancer patients.
My sister Jessica has been my inspiration in creating this donation service. She was diagnosed with cancer at age 16 and I saw first hand the trauma of her hair loss. She was given hats and wraps, but she looked most beautiful in her head scarves. She had one to go with every outfit! The scarves really seemed to give her confidence through a trying time in her life.
We all know someone who is affected by cancer. Cancer is terrible and unfortunate. It has no boundaries; no preferred method of who it affects.
My goal is to give back to those who are fighting the tough cancer battle. We can give them a scarf and a smile and maybe in doing so, offer a little bit of hope.
Please join me in this donation fund. Please send your friends and family to this site. Set up a donation program in your area. Through our paypal account, donations can also be made. Some of those donations will help in the shipping of the scarves. The remaining amount will purchase new scarves.
If you have an interest in helping, please email me at: jessicaproject@ymail.com
I will be happy to send you brochures and teach you how to set up a scarf drive locally.

Scarves can also be mailed directly to:
1721 3rd St.
Neptune Beach, FL 32266

Together, we can make the world a little brighter through the gift of scarves!

Thank you so much,

Brittney Davis

A quick update!

I just wanted to send out a quick update. The Jessica Project is still up and running. However, I am in need of volunteers who are willing to start scarf drives in their area. We are running a little bit low on new scarves. I just made a large drop off at a local hospice and we need to get stocked again!
So please, please, please, open your hearts (and wallets if you are able to) and donate to this cause. There are so many who can be touched by this project. Even if you can only donate one new scarf, or one dollar, IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE!
For those who are interested in starting a scarf drive, it is very simple. School has just started up again and I know many schools have an interest in community service projects. This is the perfect project for you (if you are in college) or your child (if you are a parent) to take on.
Simply get approval from the school (or church business of your choice), drop off a box with a sign over it, fill out your contact information, and when the box is full, send it our way! (I can email you flyers and signs to print) I will be glad to pick up any boxes in the Jacksonville area. If you are not located in this area and do not have the funds for shipping, I will pay for the shipping services. If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to give me a call or shoot me over an email.
Thanks again to everyone who has assisted in making this project so amazing!

Thanks!!!
